On May 28th of 2012, Ryan and Joanna spent their Memorial Day off from school at 'the point' at Jamesport Beach where he used his 11:11 wish to ask Joanna to be his girlfriend - how romantic! At the time, Joanna was in 9th grade and Ryan was 10th grade at Riverhead High School, where they were first introduced when walking to the portables together. They continued to date for the rest of high school, attending all four proms together, playing sports together, making each other late to class, and basically growing up together!

On December 11th of 2022, Ryan took Joanna back to 'the point' at Jamesport Beach where they had first started dating nearly a decade earlier. As you can tell from Joanna's hair in the photo below, December 11th was a rainy and windy day in little old Jamesport, but Ryan managed to drag Joanna to the beach to "watch the storm waves." Not long after, Ryan got down on one knee as he pointed at the four words that were written in the sand next to them. And the rest is history!
