It all started at Towey’s Tavern. Kevin was there celebrating yet another friend’s engagement, while I was catching up with a friend of mine. After a while, my friend and I were ready to move on to a different spot, and as we debated our next destination, Kevin walked over to chat. After a few minutes of conversation, he asked if he and his friends could join us at the next place. I said yes, not really expecting him to follow through. We got into our Uber, assuming we’d never see “that ginger” again… but the next thing we knew, Kevin jumped into the front seat of our Uber. The rest, as they say, is history!
Kevin planned the perfect date at Fonthill Castle to admire the beautifully decorated Christmas trees inside. He even had a TikTok video to back up his idea. While engagement was always on my mind, I wasn’t expecting it on this particular day. The morning started off as usual, with Kevin’s dad painting our kitchen and a long to-do list ahead. My mom and sister were busy with the Hatboro parade, and my sister kept sending photos throughout the day to confirm they were really there. Meanwhile, Kevin’s sister wasn’t able to get back to PA until the night before Thanksgiving. Every detail was planned perfectly to keep me unsuspecting. After an hour-long guided tour of Henry Mercer’s mansion, I was convinced a proposal wasn’t happening there. But as we walked around the castle afterward, Kevin suddenly got down on one knee. To my surprise, our friend Justin and his father were there capturing the entire moment! After taking it all in, calling family, and driving home from Doylestown, the surprises continued. We were greeted by both of our families at Kevin’s childhood home. It was so special hearing all the behind-the-scenes stories about the planning and how everyone managed to keep it a secret. But that wasn’t all. Later, I was surprised yet again with an engagement party at The Iron Oven, where all of our family and friends gathered to celebrate. To say it was perfect would be an understatement—it was truly the best day ever!
