Joanna and Dave both attended Ike Irby and Steven Lovern's wedding, and at the end of the night, both of them ended up in the coat check area. Joanna was taking a rest from a night of standing in heels, and Dave was awkwardly fumbling for his coat ticket. He heard a voice from the couches say, "I think you can just go back there," and sure enough, that voice was right (not for the last time). They struck up a conversation that took them both to the wedding's afterparty next door, and a brief conversation turned into a long one with their friends wondering where each had gone. They were there the whole time at a table almost in the center of the room, but just fixed on talking to each other. At the end of the night, the bar tab had been combined for both of them, but when Joanna offered to pay, Dave just said, "Don't worry about it. You can get the drinks when we see each other again." Their dating lives survived a first date, a date to see a mediocre Britney Spears musical, and mid-COVID restrictions, but they are here, over two years after that fateful encounter in a coat check room, asking for you to come to their wedding!
