Jo and Clay were introduced to each other through mutual friends around the end of December of 2021. Jo actually texted Clay first and hit it off, talking non-stop through New Years into 2022. they went on two dates before heading to start the spring semester of college.

Once the spring semester started, they spent a lot of time together doing almost everything together. They both agreed that they weren’t looking for a relationship at the time, they just really enjoyed being around each other and cultivating a great friendship. Then February 5, 2022 came along. After talking about what the future looked like for both of them, Clay and Jo made it official that day and started dating!

Clay purchased the ring in March of 2024 and started planning on the perfect proposal. After conversations with both sets of parents, the plan was set. Clay convinced Jo that they were going to get a photoshoot done for his brother’s photography portfolio. When the day came, a huge thunderstorm rolled through and put the plan on hold. After what seemed like an eternity, the storm passed and they were able to go out for the pictures. They went to a park nearby with a beautiful water fountain and Clay’s brother Luke took pictures of them. He stalled Jo long enough until both families arrived to witness the engagement. Once Clay saw the families round the corner in the distance, Luke asked Clay to grab something from his camera bag. Clay grabbed the ring hidden inside bag, lowered to one knee and popped the question!
