Querétaro International Airport (QRO) and Del Bajío International Airport (BJX)

The two closest airports to San Miguel de Allende are Querétaro International Airport (QRO) and Del Bajío International Airport (BJX). QRO is slightly closer and about a 1 hour drive to SMA. BJX is just under 1.5 hours. Both are great options, so just book for whatever airport is best for your time/budget preferences. In our experience, BJX offers the best options from LAX. **Hot Tip** If you live in SoCal, another option is to drive to Tijuana (TIJ) for cheaper flights and more time options. You would need to buy a CBX pass to cross the border and they have a very secure parking lot. We just did this and it was a breeze! We typically hire a car service (details below), but taxis are very safe and available at both airports should you like. The costs are around $70 USD for a one way trip to SMA. You can pay at the taxi counter just outside the doors after you clear Mexican customs.

Mexico City International Airport (MEX)

Mexico City is about a 3-4 hour drive to San Miguel de Allende pending traffic. While we recommend flying into QRO or BJX, if you do want to spend some time in Mexico City before/after our wedding you can easily hire a car service or shared shuttle.

Hotels and House Rentals

San Miguel de Allende is no stranger to the good life. There are a variety of hotels in the city ranging from local bed & breakfasts to high-end hotels like Rosewood, Belmond, etc. There are also so many beautiful compounds you can rent for the weekend on Airbnb and/or other booking sites in the city. We are currently working on renting a couple houses for guests. If you would like to be included, please text Ben or me.

Rental Cars & Taxis

While you are certainly welcome to rent a car, it is definitely not necessary for your stay in San Miguel de Allende. San Miguel is an extremely walkable town with charming (but difficult to drive on) narrow, cobblestone streets and limited parking. Cabs are abundant and incredibly cheap, so you shouldn't have any issues getting around. However, if you do choose to rent a car, please be extra cautious when driving, especially outside of the cities and at night. Instead of handing out parking tickets, the city is known to take your license plate if they see that you have committed a parking violation. It's easy to retrieve but fair warning! All parking signs (labeled "E" meaning you can park there) are screwed on buildings, rather than painted on the curb. There will be plenty of taxi services that will be available at the airport for about $70USD for an 1.5hr ride into the city. When you are in the city, Ubers and Taxis will be available and very affordable.

Prices between SMA and BJX/QRO are as follows: Sedan (3 passengers): 1700 MX Suburban (6 passengers): 2400 MX Van (9 passengers): 3000 MX Prices between SMA and MEX are as follows: Sedan (3 passengers): 4500 MX Suburban (6 passengers): 5600 MX Van (9 passengers): 7500 MX All prices are for one-way transportation and vehicles can fit one medium-big size suitcase and carry-on per person. Payment will be handled directly with the driver and they accept cash (USD or MXN) as well as credit card. If you choose to pay with credit card please let Daniel know so his drivers can bring the payment processing machine.
