I was working my first salaried restaurant manager job at Ruth's Chris in Asheville, and right after COVID we (like many other restaurants) were actively hiring. Joe had a friend who worked with me, and she had encouraged him to put in an application. My General Manager at the time had told me to reach out to him to set up an interview. So, I do, right? Now I'm going into this interview with a list of questions and looking for very specific answers. I'm trying to do a good job. Joe walks into this interview and is immediately shocked that I'm asking him questions...has he never been in an interview before? He bombs the interview, BUT his resume looks good. I go back to my GM and tell her that not only did I think his personality was dry, but he seemed incredibly pretentious- and "if it were up to me, I wouldn't hire him." I told her I wanted her opinion since he had the experience, and she agrees to interview him the following day. Imagine to my shock and awe, when I come in the next day and Dana looks me dead in the eye and says, "I like him, and he kind of reminds me of you." That is how I met Joe Morris. Zoe
You know I love a good origin story 😎 Meeting for the first time- After going through the paid shutdown of my previous job (that brought me to Asheville) I was looking for restaurants to serve at, while I planned my next career move. My roommate at the time was serving/managing at Ruth’s Chris, and with that recommendation I sat down for an interview with Zoe. I was woefully unprepared for a full-on, very organized, corporate-style interview with tons of questions. In the past, most of my interviews were conversations or simple introductions, followed by a few questions, and a start date. I gave my best on-the-spot answers that I could, but Zoe lit a fire under me, making me realize I could definitely strive for a better “sell” of myself. Luckily, she set up an interview with her GM, and I got the job, but still had something to prove to Zoe, who didn’t want to hire me at first 😂 Joseph
Four years, three cities, and countless memories later, we're tying the knot! From career changes to saying goodbye to loved ones and fur babies, Joseph and I have been there for each other through it all. We couldn’t be more excited to begin this next chapter of our lives, surrounded by the love of our closest family and friends. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all and create even more beautiful memories together!
