So, let me tell you about how we met! Most may not know, but we've known each other since grade school—I was in sixth grade, and he was in seventh at the Toledo School for the Arts. We'd catch glimpses of each other in the hallway, class, or occasionally outside of school, but we never really connected. We were just kids that saw each other in the halls. Honestly, we never dreamed our paths would cross again later on! Fast forward to our adult lives. I posted a video on Instagram around Valentine's Day 2019, and Josiah swiped up and sent me a message. He complimented me and threw out the idea of being my Valentine's date. I thought it wouldn't go anywhere past those messages because we lived in two different cities, but then he totally surprised me! A few days following Valentine's Day, while I was at my internship, a dozen red roses arrived for me. It was a big floral arrangement with a message from Josiah. It felt like something straight out of a romantic movie. That's when it hit me—"Okay, maybe this guy is serious!" From that point on, everything just clicked. I gave him my number, and we have talked every day since, and our friendship soon turned into something beautiful. We shared so many laughs, talked about our goals, and had conversations about our future. It genuinely felt like we'd known each other forever. Looking back, it's amazing to see how all the pieces fell into place. It's crazy to think I was passing my husband in the hallway at the age of 11. But from grade school to DMs and then roses, every little moment brought us to this point. I wouldn't trade our story for anything!
For nearly 15–20 years, the Williamson family has hosted a New Year's Brunch, a tradition now passed down to Josiah and his brother, Jairus. In January of 2023, Josiah decided to make it unforgettable. With a clever plan in mind, he hired one of his fire department coworkers to "serve" him papers during the brunch, as if he were being subpoenaed (no one knew he had this planned but his brother and three of his closest friends. So, it was pretty believable.) But the twist? The papers weren't legal documents—they were his proposal to me! As Josiah read the words out loud, he revealed his heartfelt words, surprising everyone in the room. It was such a unique and loving moment, and of course, after he said, "Will you marry me?" I responded, "You know I will!" The photo from that day is below! Shoutout to Jamar Winston :)
