It was the summer of 2009, before freshman year of high school, when Brian unexpectedly met Joanna’s sister, Katrina at a party. It was destined to be from the beginning. Katrina told Brian that night that she had a sister that would be in his grade named Joanna. Fast forward to the first day of school in 4th period, Mrs. Riggan’s class. She called role and the first name was Joanna Alvarez. It all clicked, love at first sight (for Brian of course). He still remembers what Joanna was wearing (bow on head, vans, blue shorts and a white shirt). They soon after became friends. Joanna once told Brian she would never date her best guy friend, so Brian made it a point to never be labeled as her best friend. An awkward kiss later would stall any feelings until New Year’s 2011 (Thanks Ricky). After that, hours on the phone, lunches, and walks to class would be spent together. Our love story would begin April 30th 2011 when Brian made things official. From high school sweethearts, to college lovers, and a life time ahead. Let the real journey begin!

The week leading up to August 4 would be a week of planning for Brian. He picked up the ring, found the perfect boat tour, an awesome photographer to play the part of a shipmate, and a beautiful restaurant to accommodate family and friends. Brian would tell Joanna the biggest lie she has ever believed. He convinced Joanna he was gifted a boat ride (possibly on a yacht), followed by dinner, courtesy of his new company. He let her know that she should really step up her game and dress to impress because the CEO of the company would possibly be joining. Brian set the stage perfectly for Joanna to be, and I quote, “looking like a snack” (Brian’s words). Upon arrival, they boarded the boat and were greeted by Captain Bo and his “shipmate” (Danielle Margherite Photography). Forty-five minutes into the “tour” Danielle would tell the captain to stop because the view was perfect and the website needed new content. This plan was texted to Captain Bo and Danielle by Brian the night before and they executed perfectly. Danielle took out her professional camera and began to pose Brian and Joanna. The key word that would take Brian to a knee was, “okay now face each other.” Brian would freeze, forget his lines, and say “I love you, baby. Will you marry me?” Joanna would of course say YES!
