The Wedding Website of Joanna Bersin and Brad McIlquham
Our Saturday celebration will take place at The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC), a very special and historic spot. The museum's exhibits will be open during the celebration, and we'll have time for exploration and learning during the cocktail hour.
Question

What is the SLCC?

Answer

The Squamish Nation and Lil’wat Nation are cultures grounded in rich, ancient traditions. They've coexisted as neighbours respectfully since time immemorial. On March 22, 2001 the Nations signed a historic protocol. They formally agreed to live and work together in Whistler. The SLCC embodies the spirit of partnership between two unique Nations who wish to preserve, grow, and share their traditional cultures. The impressive SLCC building itself is an interpretation of a traditional Squamish longhouse and Lil'wat Istken (underground dwelling). We're very appreciative to have access to such a treasured venue, and we can't wait to celebrate beautiful partnerships of all kinds in this corner of the world with all of you!
