FAQs

Question

What if we just can't attend the wedding?

Answer

We are inviting you because we are friends. In friendship there is always room for grace. If you cannot make it, we understand. We know that you will be with us in spirit. Our friendship will remain.

Question

Do you really want us to answer the Guest Questionnaire?

Answer

Yes, please! We want to make sure we address food sensitivities and allergies now while we are nailing down the menu. We also want to make sure there’s music that everyone will enjoy!

Question

What’s the attire for the wedding and festivities:

Answer

We are seeking a laid-back vibe but not too laid-back. The daughter of my dear friend, Elizabeth, has described the attire for the wedding/dinner/dancing as “New England Summer Prep.” Think linen shorts and button-down shirts for the men (or perhaps the ladies, too!) and/or colorful summer dresses.

Question

Are you going to reserve a block of hotel rooms:

Answer

Yes, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Marriott Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel located at 5 Ave of the Arts, Providence, RI 02903. This hotel is located 1.8 miles from the wedding location (12 Keene St., Providence). You likely will not want to walk to the wedding because the walk is uphill a good portion of the way. A taxi or Uber would be very affordable. The negotiated rates are as follows: Single: $239.00 Double: $239.00 Suites: $319.00 Reservations for the Event will be made by individual attendees directly with Marriott reservations at 1 (800) 468-3571 (state that you are seeking the Cromwell-Dahl wedding room block rate) or you can use the link located in the travel section of this website to book you reservation online.

Question

Is there a registry?

Answer

We are at an age where we do not need to acquire more things. It is truly not necessary to do anything but celebrate with us. However, if you feel you must do something, a donation to one of these three charities will certainly be appreciated: 1) Pancreatic Cancer Network. Denny's sister, Page, passed away on 10 February 2025 of Pancreatic Cancer. Denny & Joan met at the Celebration of Life honoring Page. This organization does good work. https://pancan.org/facing-pancreatic-cancer/about-pancreatic-cancer/what-is-pancreatic-cancer/ 2) Sampson County Arts Council: Joan's mother passed away on 6 February 2025. Her mother was actively involved with Samson County Arts Council which supports emerging and local artists. The poverty rate in this community is 23.6%. Having privately funded arts programs helps expose people to arts who would general not have access. https://sampsonarts.net/ 3) Mid-Atlantic English Spring Spaniel Rescue League: Joan has been a volunteer with MAESSR for many years and is on the Board. These special dogs are always worthy of support. https://maessr.org/
