No visit to Saint Louis would be complete without a visit to the iconic Gateway Arch National Park, its museum and the Old Courthouse Museum.
Just a few miles Lafeyette Square, located in St. Louis’ Forest Park, is the Saint Louis Zoo, consistently voted the best zoo in the country—and it’s free! The zoo was established in 1904 as part of the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair. The flight cage is an original element built in the zoo for the Worlds’ Fair.
The aquarium located inside the historic St. Louis Union Station. It’s only 1.0 miles from Lafeyette Square and indoors. If travelling with children, there are hands on activities, guided by the staff, to introduce kids to aquatic life, and plenty to engage the adults, too. It’s best to purchase your tickets online, to select the time you want to go.
This is also a great place for the whole family. There are ticketed attractions but general admission is free.
Founded in 1859 by Henry Shaw, it’s one of the oldest botanical gardens in the US, a National Historic Landmark, as well as on the National Register of Historic Places.
Another gem of our town is the Saint Louis Art Museum. It’s one of the principal art museums in the US, with paintings, sculptures, cultural objects and ancient masterpieces from all over the world. Also, located in Forest Park, “next to” the Saint Louis Zoo, it, too, is free to the public.
Like all other venues in Forest Park, it is free to the public.
