Please arrive between 4:30-4:45pm to enjoy a welcome drink and to find your seat. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00pm.
We will provide a shuttle back to select hotels after the reception ends at 11pm (Marina Grand, Holiday Inn Express, and Four Winds Casino) but guests will need to arrange their own transportation to the venue for the ceremony. Rideshares like Uber and Lyft are readily available in the area. If you are driving yourself, there is a private parking lot at Journeyman Distillery.
At the outset of our planning Lauren came to me and suggested June 21 for the date of our wedding. Although she never met my grandfather, I feel that she was channeling him. Growing up, Zee would make a big deal out of June 21st being the longest day of the year. He was always fascinated by the solstice and I am always thinking of him on June 21st. Now our anniversary will be another point to make one of my favorite days of the year special.
When Jacob and I traveled from Chicago to Grand Rapids together for the first time, we made a stop for lunch at Journeyman on our way and had the most lovely time - delicious food and drinks, wonderful staff, perfect vibes. We loved it so much that we went again on our way back to Chicago, and kept going back every now and then despite it being 1.5 hours away. Every time we went, we would walk around the distillery, exploring different rooms - not realizing yet that one of those rooms would become our wedding venue! When we started looking for a wedding venue, nothing felt quite right at first - we didn’t want a traditional wedding space or anything too formal. But the moment we thought of Journeyman, everything clicked. We did our due diligence of researching their event spaces and touring the space in a more official capacity, but honestly, we already knew from the first time the idea came up that it was a perfect venue for our wedding. Journeyman already holds so many joyful memories for us, and we can’t wait to make even more - this time with so many of our favorite people there to share it with us.
Cocktail Attire: A step up from casual but not too formal. Think dresses, jumpsuits, slacks with a nice shirt (jackets and ties optional). Wear whatever makes you feel dressed up but still comfortable enough to dance, eat, and celebrate! Comfy shoes are welcomed!
DRINKS: There will be an open bar, including welcome cocktails before the ceremony and a full bar after the ceremony - a few custom cocktails, Journeyman spirits, local beer, and wine as well. The bar also can make some delicious non-alcoholic drinks/mocktails! FOOD: There will be plenty of delicious food! We are planning to have several passed appetizers during the cocktail hour, and then dinner will include a buffet with options for steak, chicken, or salmon. And of course there will be dessert :) We are happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions or allergies - please include this information in your RSVP if applicable.
The ceremony and reception will be held indoors, but the cocktail hour in between is planned to be held outdoors on the adjacent patio and lawn area. The temperature can be quite variable this time of year, but average highs are in mid-70s & average lows are in mid-50s. UPDATE: As of 6/15 the weather forecast predicts a high temperature in upper-80s and low temperature in upper-60s to low-70s. So it might be toasty! Check back in a few days for updates as we get closer to the date! (and of note - there will be some covered/shaded areas if it gets too hot!)
We’re planning an adults-only celebration. Since the wedding is at a distillery, we kindly request that all guests be 21 or older.
Since we’ve already built a cozy home together, instead of a traditional registry, we’ve set up a Honeyfund for those who’d like to contribute to our honeymoon ❤️ https://www.honeyfund.com/site/propst-wolfe-06-21-2025 If you'd like to send a physical gift, we’ve also included a link to our Amazon registry on our Honeyfund page.
