FAQs

If you ask me a question enough times I'll put it on the list.
Question

Why did the website take so long to populate?

Answer

John has been a chronic procrastinator his entire life, and that continues to be true even now.

Question

Is the wedding inside or outside?

Answer

The wedding will be outside, so please be sure to dress appropriately and bring any allergy medications you might need. Nasal Sprays and Allergy Pills come to mind. If it rains, there is a back-up inside location at the same site.

Question

What is "Smart Casual"? What do I wear??

Answer

Think a nice blouse/polo/button-down on top, a pair of khakis/skirt/nice jeans on bottom, and some practical footwear. This could mean a cute sun dress and sneakers, or a collared shirt and a nice pair of jeans. Dress like you're about to go on a cute date at the park, because you kinda are.

Question

I noticed you have reiterated multiple times that there will be grass in the garden. Do you think that it would be a good idea to wear heels to the wedding?

Answer

No.

Question

I'm excited to go to your wedding, and am looking for a culturally appropriate way to celebrate! Any advice?

Answer

Glad you asked! While our reception will consist of a traditional Chinese Banquet, food being Lucille's preferred method of cultural exchange, another way that you could consider sharing in our culture is the Hongbao, or Red Envelope. A quick summary on Hongbao: Hongbao, or Red Envelopes, are a symbol of good luck and blessings given on special occasions such as Lunar New Year, Weddings and Birthdays. The Red Color is thought to ward off bad luck and bring joy, and the act of giving a Hongbao is one that reinforces familial bonds and celebrates prosperity. Historically, a Hongbao contains money (often in 8's because 8 is lucky, and never in 4's because 4 is unlucky), but can also contain greetings and candy. While you of course have zero obligation to give us money, if you'd like to share in this tradition with us, a red envelope with some crisp $1 and $2 bills* is a way you could wish us good luck in our marriage! *Since 8 is lucky, that could be eight $1's or four $2's. And don't worry I (John) checked, and just because there's four of them doesn't make it unlucky. I have been trying to get the rules straight for 5 years now and I am sharing my knowledge with you.

Question

Why is there an hour between the ceremony and reception?

Answer

John, Lucille and the Wedding Party will be taking Wedding Pictures during this time!

Question

What should I do during that time then?

Answer

Enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery in the garden! Maybe chat some people up from the ceremony! Our wedding is just as much a celebration of our love as it is an opportunity for our friends and family to come together.

Question

I hear Lucille is a Registered Dietitian. What is the best food that I can eat?

Answer

Lucille has strong opinions on a singular food being the best to eat because that's clearly not how food works, but if you ask our Optometrist she'll tell you it's eggs which is also Lucille's favorite food so take that as you will.

Question

Isn't it so romantic that Diamonds last forever?

Answer

Actually, contrary to what commercials would have you believe, Diamonds under typical conditions will eventually degrade into graphite because it is a lower-energy configuration for the element Carbon. Granted, that would take millions and billions of years so in the context of everyday human use "forever" is close enough.
