We met at our favorite local spot, good ol’ Sollitt Tap. From the start, we connected over our shared love of music. It’s rare to find someone whose playing music that feels like your own, and that’s exactly what made those first conversations so special. Through the ups and downs of the COVID days at Sollitt, our friendship grew deeper and stronger. Before long, we realized that maybe our nerves were the only thing standing in the way of something truly beautiful. One night, as we talked about dreams of a future and starting a family someday, everything just clicked.. it felt right. So, we decided to do what felt meant to be… to do life together, just as God intended.
We had planned to get some cute photos done that day.. or so I thought! What I didn’t know was that, about an hour before, Justin had secretly messaged the photographer and called my dad with a completely different plan. In the middle of our shoot, Justin spun me around for fun. When I turned back, he had let go of my hand, and was down on one knee. I was completely shocked (and maybe a little sick from surprise)! Through happy tears, I managed to say, “YES! Now let me see my Buma’s ring!” As most of you know, my grandma and I were incredibly close. About a year into our relationship, she gave Justin her wedding band, trusting him to one day turn it into something meaningful for us. Right then, as if God wanted to join the moment, it started to rain. But just as quickly as it came, the rain cleared.. and a rainbow appeared right behind us, like something straight out of a movie. It couldn’t have been more us. A little chaos, a lot of laughter, and the most perfect surprise.
