Jason and Kayla’s love story began in an unexpected place, Instagram! Back in April 2023, Jason was working with the Men’s Crew team and Kayla was working with the cross country teams at UC Berkeley. Through the athletes they both worked with, they somehow ended up connecting online. To this day, it’s still up for debate who actually messaged first. What started with a follow and story reply (gotta love the San Francisco harbor seals) soon turned into daily conversations and an instant connection. However, after just a couple months of getting to know each other, life took them to opposite sides of the country. Jason moved back to Princeton, New Jersey, while Kayla stayed in California. Even with the distance, their relationship only got stronger. Between late-night phone calls, cross-country visits, and always showing up for each other, they made long distance feel a little less long. In January 2025, Jason proposed in Palm Springs, one of Kayla’s favorite places, making things forever official. Later that summer, they took another big step and finally moved to the same place, excited to trade airport goodbyes for everyday life together. Since then, their story has been full of laughter, love, cats, and plenty of adventures, and they can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.
