In Phoenix, Arizona, during a CCV Worship Service in October of 2017, Joshua & Kaylee “unofficially” met for the first time. While they weren’t able to connect in person that evening, they both took notice of one another from a distance, and in the days that would follow, Joshua was able to utilize some good old “stalking skills” on Facebook to track Kaylee down and ask her out on a date :) Thankfully she accepted that invite! Ever since that first date about 3 years ago, Joshua & Kaylee’s relationship has taken on different forms during different seasons. Whether it has been casual dating, serious dating, or being co-workers on a church staff together, there has been one constant that has remained through it all: a deep and live-giving friendship with one another!
On the evening of September 3rd, 2020, Kaylee swung by North Valley Community Church’s Campus with a co-worker who was needing to grab something she had "left" on-site earlier that day. Little did Kaylee know, this co-worker was secretly leading her to Joshua, who was waiting in the Courtyard Area with a ring in his back pocket and a marriage proposal ready to give! If this series of events wasn’t surprising enough in itself already, the relational context surrounding the proposal surely was! You see, Joshua & Kaylee hadn’t even been in a dating relationship for several months leading up to this proposal evening! But with powerful clarity from the Lord, Joshua decided to step out in faith by proposing to his best friend. Thankfully Kaylee graciously and lovingly received Joshua’s proposal with open arms!
