We Met

Oct. 8, 2019

We met up in the food court located in the Agnes Edwards Conference Center at UL-Lafayette. We talked about family and our interests. This is where we found out our shared interest in Japan. Fun fact: we also did not know that we were in the same English class at UL when we started in 2017.

Dating

Jan. 27, 2020

We had our first official date as a couple at Yoka in Youngsville. While we were waiting for our food, we talked about our friendship at the time and then decided to give it a try to be in a relationship with each other. Since then, we celebrated every anniversary at Yoka until we moved to Lake Charles.

I Love You

June 15, 2020

Due to COVID, we didn't get to hang out much in person. We spend a lot of time on Discord or Zoom, playing games or just chatting. In June, he was able to come over and we sat outside. While Kimberley wasn't paying attention, he said "I love you". This was extra special to us because we did not want to say it via a computer screen, so while we felt the love for many months, we actually said it in June.

Proposal

Jan. 25, 2025

Jacob had Kimberley running around. She thought it was just a fun day date of getting crepes and going to the park. Kimberley was a little confused why Jacob was eating so slow and taking his sweet time, but once we got to the park, it all made sense. We walked for a little bit and he fooled Kimberley into looking the opposite direction to propose. Kimberley said she couldn't see anything because of the tears, but she said yes! Sure enough, she found out why he was so slow because everyone was there! Jeff, Karen, Patrick, Ilona, Mitchell and Kim saw everything happen and took some videos and pictures.

Wedding

Jan. 30, 2026

We are planning everything and we can't wait for it to happen. We are planning it to how we like it. Kimberley has always thought of the theme "Two Worlds, One Family" for the wedding because it embodies Jacob and Kimberley's union perfectly. While she comes from a Dutch background, he comes from an American and at the wedding, they will unite as one family.
