Jack and I had been attending the same church in Oklahoma City for a few months before we officially met at a mutual friend’s home. Months pass and my interest turned into a crush and that crush turned into us direct messaging each other every once in a while just enough for him to see my interest. Those direct messages ended up striking a desire in Jack to ask me on a date— waiting the week AFTER Valentine’s Day in true Jack Jamison fashion. Our date was on a cold, wintry night at a bar in OKC, Ludivine. We couldn’t stop talking to each other until we checked our phones and it was midnight! Those five hours felt like 30 minutes, and it was definitely the start of something so, so sweet. A year later, Jack planned our Valentine’s Day date to be the Saturday before the holiday at Bob’s, one of our favorite restaurants in OKC. I had been busy planning an event for the dental school, so engagement was not on my mind for that particular weekend. I spent the day resetting and putting finishing touches on his Valentine’s gift. He asked me to come over before dinner to exchange gifts (in my yoga pants and sweatshirt, duh!) and little did I know he had another plan :). Since we started dating, we had journaled memories, special conversations, and moments in a notebook to look back on in the future. Jack had this journal at the bottom of my gift where he noted when he bought the ring, when he talked to my family, and when he talked to his. This led into him walking me into his kitchen where he had his own set up for us! Jack proposed at his home with no one around, just the two of us. It quickly became our favorite day of our relationship! We spent the evening at dinner reflecting on God’s goodness, His grace, and every little moment it took to get to this perfectly imperfect day of the rest of our lives.
