For a more intimate and budget-friendly stay in Puerto Vallarta, we recommend Hotel Amaca — a charming adults-only boutique hotel tucked into the hills of the Romantic Zone. This is where we encourage our HIGH SCHOOL and COLLEGE friends to stay. Just a short walk from Playa Los Muertos, the Malecón, and many of Puerto Vallarta’s best restaurants, bars, and cafés, it’s a great option for guests who want to be close to the energy of the city while still enjoying a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Hotel Amaca is known for its rooftop pool and terrace with beautiful views of Banderas Bay, cozy modern rooms, and welcoming boutique feel. This is a great place to hang out, drink and enjoy the sun as a group. The property offers a more laid-back, local experience compared to larger resorts, making it ideal for couples, friends, and wedding guests who plan to spend most of their time exploring Puerto Vallarta. The hotel is also adults-only, helping create a peaceful and romantic environment throughout the stay. One thing to note: because the hotel sits on a hillside in the Romantic Zone, there are stairs and uphill walking involved — but many travelers say the views and location are well worth it. Located in Puerto Vallarta’s Hotel Zone, this charming hacienda-style resort blends authentic Mexican architecture, tropical gardens, and warm hospitality to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The resort offers an all-inclusive experience with on-site dining, pools surrounded by lush greenery, nightly entertainment, and access to a nearby private beach club. Guests who want a quieter, more laid-back stay while still being a short Uber ride from the Romantic Zone and downtown Puerto Vallarta may find this to be a great option for the wedding weekend. The property is also conveniently located near the airport, shopping, and local attractions. Hacienda Buenaventura is especially great for guests wanting a balance between resort relaxation and exploring Puerto Vallarta’s local culture. Its traditional Mexican design and boutique feel give it a more authentic atmosphere compared to many larger modern resorts. Guests should note that while the hotel is not directly on the beach, it does offer access to a nearby beach club just a short walk or shuttle ride away.
