Our friend Taylor Romeo is the reason we met and are getting married! JJ and Taylor have known each other since high school and Alex and Taylor were Co RAs in Ylvi the dorm that Alex lived in all four years at Luther. Taylor and Alex became really close friends at the start of the year and Taylor told Alex about JJ and how she thought they had many similar interests, then Taylor told Alex, "You guys should be friends and talk about your career path!" Taylor, Alex, Anneleise, Alex's best friend, and JJ all ate the Caf to get to know each other. This entire time Alex thought she was making a friend, but JJ and Taylor knew very well that this may be more than a friendship. And the rest is history! We are so grateful for Taylor and her matchmaking abilities. Also, Alex didn't find out she was set up until 2 months in, are we surprised?

Hey, JJ here: When I was about 10 years old and still living in California, I bought a robotic/stuffed Scooby-Doo doll that dances and sings while wearing a tuxedo and holding a box of chocolates and a rose. You can say I've always been a romantic. I originally bought it to give to someone I had a crush on at the time, but I lost the courage to do so and it sat in my room for years. It managed to stay with me through the move from California to Illinois, so I decided in high school that I would give it to my future wife when I propose to her. Fast-forward to Christmas Eve 2018, I, with the help of Alex's best friend Elizabeth and Scooby, asked Alex to marry me. It may seem kind of weird that I "re-gifted" Scooby to her, but I see it as God's guidance. God blessed me with the right people to lead me to Luther, where we met, and he blessed me with Alex. I'm so glad I didn't give Scooby to anyone else because it would have been a waste. It sounds silly, but Scooby has always been meant for Alex. God knew I would give it to her. And I thank the Lord for giving me such a kind and wise woman to spend the rest of my life with.
