How We Met

First comes love, then comes marriage…

Jismely and Leonel first met at church, two strangers brought together by faith, unaware that God was already at work. One evening, Jismely’s phone suddenly stopped working. Phone calls failed to connect, and messages could neither be sent nor received as she tried to contact her aunt for a ride home. Always willing to help, Leonel offered to take a look. He tried everything he could, from restarting the phone to checking the settings, but no matter how hard he tried, the phone simply would not function. With a small laugh and a touch of embarrassment, he handed it back and apologized that he was unable to fix it. Feeling responsible, he offered Jismely a ride home, which she accepted without hesitation. Before parting ways, they exchanged numbers. It was a simple moment, almost insignificant, yet quietly filled with promise. In the following days, Leonel saw Jismely at church and whenever they crossed paths, he would check in by asking if her phone was working again and apologized once more for not being able to fix it. What began as simple concern gradually grew into something more. With each passing interaction, a gentle friendship blossomed, filled with shared laughter, unspoken prayers, and a growing sense of comfort. As time went on and they spent more moments together, friendship naturally turned into love, steady and genuine, rooted in faith and grace. Leonel never fixed Jismely’s phone, but in trying, he found something far greater. What first seemed like an inconvenience became the very thing that brought them together. A broken phone opened the door to meaningful conversations, open hearts, and a love shaped by faith, friendship, and God’s perfect timing. Sometimes what does not work out becomes the very thing that leads us home, reminding us that true love, rooted in faith, is so strong it needs no reception.
