A mutual family friend of ours thought that we would be perfect for each other. Jinu got my number from him and decided to shoot his shot. One Thanksgiving day he texted me and I remember being at my family Thanksgiving dinner texting him all night. Those texts soon turned into nightly FaceTime calls. It wasn't long until we finally decided we wanted to meet up. Jinu came to see me in January when we had our first date. We had an awesome weekend together. We had so much fun and couldn't get enough each other that he came again the following month and asked me to be his girlfriend. From that point on we started our long distance relationship, making an effort to see each other every month..despite the crazy expensive flight ticket costs!
Jaimie and I crossed paths and came to find out about each other through a mutual family friend. I was kind of skeptical at first thinking of how this would work out and the long distance but I put aside those differences and decided to call. I remember our very first facetime call and being so nervous to call her, she on the other hand didn’t seem to be as much as she had a towel on her head and was in her own little world haha. I was intrigued, a girl that is not afraid to be herself no matter what. To me that was something special. Anyways, we clicked from our very first conversation and we continued to text, call, and facetime everyday. After a few months, I knew I had to meet her. We finally met up for the first time in New Jersey and went on our first date. I thought it would be different actually seeing each other in person but although we had a few awkward moments, we were still able to be comfortable with each other and had an amazing time.. at the end of the trip I knew we had a special connection. From then on we’ve only grown to love each other more and more each day. She was more than anything I could have prayed for and God knew we needed each other in our journey. We have learned so much along the way and are both truly blessed to have met each other and can’t wait to celebrate with our friends and family in July!
Due to our long-distance relationship, Jinu and I always made sure to make the most of our time together. One Friday in October, Jinu said he wanted to take me to a really fancy restaurant in Hoboken. When I asked him why Hoboken and not the city, he said because he's never seen Hoboken during the day. He mentioned that he wants to get to Hoboken a few hours before dinner, hang out by the skyline, then head to dinner. I didn't think twice because this was a great excuse for me to buy a new dress, get dolled up, and of course eat good food! Of course, Jinu shows up at my house on time and I was not ready as usual. Jinu kept checking his phone and saying we're going to be late. I kept telling him to relax because we were very early for what I thought was just dinner, but Jinu kept insisting that we get there before the sunsets. This was normal for us because I'm usually the late one and Jinu is super punctual. We get to Hoboken and Jinu tells me to leave my jacket in the car. One thing about me is that I HATE being cold, and here's Jinu telling me to leave my jacket in the car on a windy day in October. Thankfully, I listened to him. We started walking towards the water by Pier A. As we got closer to the water I saw a bunch of rose petals in the shape of a heart. Around the heart were photo frames with all different pictures of us together. Among the pictures was also the first picture we've ever taken together and it was right there at Pier A. At that moment I knew I was being proposed to and was in so much shock and overwhelmed with joy. Jinu and I stepped into the center of the heart together, then he got on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course I said yes!
