This is where Collin and I had our first date! Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest is a historic retreat home located just outside Lynchburg, Virginia and it’s one of the most fascinating places in the area to visit, especially if you enjoy history, architecture, or peaceful scenery! If you want, you can tour the restored home, explore the grounds, and learn about Jefferson’s life, enslaved laborers who lived and worked there, and the ongoing restoration work.
Here for the weekend? We’d love for you to join us Sunday morning at Thomas Road Baptist Church (TRBC)! It’s a welcoming, Christ-centered church that’s all about loving Jesus, loving people, and serving the community.
You simply can’t beat a classic local ice cream shop! Collin and I love not just the huge variety of flavors, but also the generous sizes and great prices. (Fun fact: a “kids small” is basically a large… so take that however you like!)
Peaks of Otter is an absolutely beautiful place to explore! With the stunning scenery, it’s hard to beat. But if you’re like me and hiking isn’t your thing—especially in the summer—the drive itself is just as gorgeous. Plus, catching the sunset there is an experience you won’t want to miss!
The sweetest local mini golf spot! It’s so much fun and perfect for a playful outing while you’re in town.
One of our favorite spots to unwind and take in the beauty of Lynchburg! The rooftop offers stunning views of the James River and the surrounding city, and sometimes there’s live music to enjoy while sipping your favorite drink. It’s the perfect place to relax, watch the sunset, and soak up the local atmosphere.
Need a great spot for Mexican food? We LOVE La Carreta! Just make sure it’s the Timberlake location! This local Lynchburg chain serves up delicious dishes and is a favorite of ours!
Another Lynchburg gem we love! This spot serves a variety of delicious dishes and is perfect for a casual meal while exploring the city.
Need a last-minute outfit change, want to browse, or—like me—just love a good TJ Maxx/HomeGoods run? This may be the tiniest mall you’ve ever been to, but it’s full of charm and the perfect spot for a little shopping adventure!
