I went to a show that night with my Canadian besties during my uni time in Sydney. We went to our Thursday night Karaoke spot at good old Kelly's in Newtown to do our usual thing; drink and sing. Downstairs was a bit crowded, so we went upstairs to the bar when I was stopped by a tall, curly haired guy who offered me one of his drinks on the table. He and his cousins had 9 drinks between them sitting on the table because they all happened to buy each other a round. I thought this was strange at first but Jimmy won me over with a few laughs and his new "management role" business card. I didn't care about his role but I found it endearing that he was willing to pull out all stops to impress me. And yes...I still have that business card. Before you knew it, he and his cousins were sitting at our table. In our first text messages to each other before meeting up again, he sent me a picture of Pavarotti saying he looked like skinnier version of him in case I forgot what he looked like. I told him that I looked like Beyonce's cousin (hence the nickname "Sabeyonce"). That was the start of our forever journey. Dating, travelling as much as possible, work opportunities, several visas with a soon to be Australian citizenship, our beautiful baby cherub, and now finally a symbolic commitment to the rest of our lives!
