How we met

04/25/2014

I had a flat tire in the parking lot of Willowbrook Mall. While I was on the phone with Geico waiting on the tow truck man for assistance, a young lady pulls over and attempts to help, but she was absolutely no help. Moments later a guy and his friends pull up next to my car and ask if I needed help. 'Duh'!...Dumb question I thought to myself, but I just replied, "Yes". Him and his friends got out the the vehicle and changed my tire while making me laugh along the way....no numbers exchanged, just a thank you and goodbye. I randomly saw him again at a club 3 weeks later when I was celebrating my birthday.. ironically, he was celebrating his too. We talk, we laughed, no numbers exchanged, just a goodbye. Hours go by and guess what... saw him again at Ihop. He bought me breakfast, cut and fed me pancakes, and this time we exchanged numbers.... and the rest is history ❤️.

How we got engaged

07/13/2017

We take yearly vacations, and this year I wanted it to be special. We decided to go to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico... and while I was out there I had a little surprise for her. I had no idea how I wanted to pop the question, I just knew this place was beautiful and I wanted to do it here. I spoke to the resort manager and asked if I could propose on stage during the nightly shows. He said yes. But when I walk away, I thought to myself... he's not going to let me walk up there in front of all those people 😒😒. The last night has come and this guy still hasn’t called me up to the stage. He approached me before the last show and he said, “I have something special for you Shimmy.” I smiled, shook his hand and went to the bar. I took about 4 shots of Tequila then went to the area Michelle and our new friends were sitting. The show began and I started to get nervous, Palms were sweaty, Neck was stiff, and I was a wreck!! Next thing I hear is, “Can my friend Shimmy come to the stage?”. I told Michelle to come up to the stage with me because I was shy. She hesitated for a second then agreed to come. With close to 200 people in the audience, I got on one knee and proposed. After hitting me and asking was I playing...She finally said yes! We were then given champagne, and serenaded by a Mexican band as fireworks went off in the background.
