Jimmy Lovett

Betrothed

Have you heard about Jimmy Lovett? You haven't? Well then I feel so lucky to get to tell you about them for the first time! But what to talk about first? Should I talk about their writing? Because their plays and stories are amazing. Their writing is spooky and queer and exciting in a way that I feel like I'd be their fan even if we weren't dating. But maybe I should also talk about the visual arts instead? They're a cross-sticher, a collage-maker, a journaler, a doodler, a papercrafter, a graphic designer, and so much more. They'll see something online or at a market and become inspired. Hmm, perhaps I should instead make it a little more personal? They've always been so supportive of me, they helped me make some of the biggest decisions of my life and supported me throughout. Everything from getting a cat (Jace) to moving to teaching at a summer camp during COVID to going to graduate school—I don't think any of it would have happened without them. But it's the little things too, they always check in and listen to the silly things I have to say. I could go on, but I only have so many characters I'm allowed to use, so here's what you really need to know: on about our third or forth date Jimmy and I were talking and I responded to something with "I think you're the coolest person I've ever met". Well, it's four years later and now I'm certain; they're the coolest person I've ever met, and I am so excited to spend my life with them! - Conor

Conor Mullen

Betrothed

Do you have the great misfortune not to know Conor? Get excited to rectify that! Here are some words that describe him: nerd, educator, artist, funny, smart, dork, kind, compassionate, gamer, gay-mer, cat-dad, sweetheart, banana-bread-maker, caring, swordsman, wearer-of-weird-socks, husband-to-be. I met Conor on tinder because the 21st century is a nightmare. Neither of us was looking for a serious relationship so naturally we ended up here. After our first date, I stood in my kitchen (now our kitchen) and told Jalana that there might be something about him, probably while blushing profusely. I knew I was done for when I blindly went to see his improv show. (Fortunately, it was As You Will and therefore extremely good because did I mention that Conor can just speak in Shakespeare off the cuff? It's wild.) Conor is an amazingly supportive and attentive partner and grounds me when everything is just too much. He also listens to my weird rants and let me make him watch all of Hannibal probably far too early in our relationship. Conor hails from Denver, went to Skidmore College, and is now working on his masters in theatre & education from NYU because he's a smart nerd. Conor enjoys video games, Magic the Gathering, Friends (both the sit-com and the general concept), and, hopefully, my company. He is a theatre artist, a stage combat choreographer, a future teacher, and, above all else, at least to me, the best partner I could have ever hoped for. -Jimmy

Sebastian Spiegel

Officiant & Attendant of Unusual Forest Creatures

I met Sebastian when we were about nine years old doing The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at our local community theatre. Since then, we went to camp together, dated, watched a ton of movies, drove across the country with his cat, and generally got into trouble. Were I not marrying Conor, I would be promised to Sebastian. A delightful cross between a swishy magpie and a grumpy raven, they have a wonderfully creative mind and an extremely fluffy cat called Chainsaw.

David Brummer

Officiant & Attendant of Scholarship

Most people point to an English or Theatre teacher as the origin of their love of Shakespeare. For me, the origin was David Brummer. I fortuitously met David at a lunch where I saw him sitting with folks at an overcrowded table in the Skidmore College dining hall. David, always the gracious host, invited me to sit with him and his friends when I barely knew anyone. The rest, as they say, is history. David has been my creative partner for so much of my young adult life. From As You Will to Timon of Athens to Patience Play, so many of the things I'm most proud of are a direct result of his support. During the wedding, please direct any questions regarding academia, English literature, poetic structure, Shakespeare, or tri-state area bagel recommendations to David.

Jalana Sloatman

Attendant of the Moon

Jalana was my TA for a theatre tech class my first semester at Hampshire college and I had the biggest crush on her. We were an extremely cute couple for a while and are now extremely cute friends. Jalana hails from Maine and is now living in Denver with her partners, Arianna and Cait, and their three cats, Cicero, Ghost, and Prudence. I was so honored to stand by Jalana at her wedding and can't wait to have her with me at mine. Jalana is a kind and thoughtful person, a wonderful artist, and will talk your ears off about sailing boats/ships if you let her. Jalana did not provide me with a picture so I chose this one from when we went thrifting and to IKEA basically the day before New York City shut down.

Chloe West

Attendant of Learning

If you're wondering where I'll be trying to get to in five years, just look at where Chloe is now. This bodes well for my teaching aspirations, but not so well for the number of dogs I'm likely to own. [Jimmy note: it bodes extremely well for the number of dogs we will own!] Chloe and I met in an introductory acting class in college, but our friendship really took off when, during a snow day, we spent the whole day hanging out together in the dining hall. We've been friends ever since. Chloe is the English Teacher I hope to be someday, beloved by their students, confident, and unflinching in their ethics. Tough but fair, in the best way possible. Chloe has taught me so much over the years, and I've become a better artist, a better educator, and a better person thanks to their patience and tutelage. Don't hesitate to ask Chloe about any questions regarding proper dog care and feeding, the importance of reading, or embarrassing stories about Conor.

Arianna Mayer

Attendant of Power Tools

I met Ari while through Jalana my first year of college and we've been friends and sometimes housemates ever since. We've spent countless hours taking rambling walks and talking about stories and plotting podcasts that we may yet make someday. Ari lives in Denver with her partners, Jalana and Cait, and the aforementioned cats. Ari is a caring badass with a delightfully twisting mind and will perform almost any Dad Task that needs doing.

Maddox Emerick

Attendant of Adventure

Though we went to college together, Maddox and I didn't really become good friends until we were both graduates and found ourselves working together on founding this fight choreography company called Dispatch Combat Collective (the whole thing was his idea, really). I've had a lot of co-workers since my first job, but Maddox is the best one for sure. Often our work involves the two of us hopping into a car to drive hours away and teach a stage combat workshop to a bunch of excited college or high school students. When I think of Maddox I think first and foremost of those adventures, and the conversations we have that makes the time fly by. We can discuss pretty much anything, from what's happening in our lives, to fight choreography, to video games, to art, and more. During the wedding, please seek Maddox if you need his advice on the technique for a proper shoulder roll, suggestions for how to travel across the country by car, or need help identifying the pitch of a specific tone.

Quinlan Sparks

Attendant of Stories

Quin and I met in our first year of college in a class that we both rather hated. They were the lead in my first play the next year and we helped each other explore different methods of storytelling when they weren't catching me up on all the best late-90s/early-00s cartoons I missed. Quin rounds out my trifecta of wonderful ex's because that's queer culture. Quin is from the Chicago area and currently living in Denver. (Yes, it’s very popular these days.) Quin is a fabulous storyteller across mediums including prose and table-top gaming, and gives amazing hugs. The dog's name is Drummer and someday I will get to pet her.

Callan Suozzi-Rearic

Attendant of Rebelliousness

Callan was fighting for social justice before it was cool—in fact I'm pretty sure she helped make it cool. One of my earliest college friends, I credit Callan with being one of the first people to help me understand what it meant to be a part of the queer community. Even now, Callan is often one of the first people I reach out to when struck by an ethical dilemma. She's also the one who got me started in fight choreography, and I don't know where I would be today if not for her. I'm forever grateful that I got to be her fight partner. Please seek out Callan for any questions regarding acting in NYC, proper yoga pose technique, and which dishes are vegan. Also, as a New Jersey native, Callan is a great person to ask for advice on places to visit while you're in the Garden State.

Jordan Xu

Attendant of Family and Also Knowing What’s Going On

Jordan is my (step)-sister and the brains of this entire operation. (Pro-tip if you’re planning a wedding: have a sibling who owns/runs a multi-award-winning event planning business.) From a bunkbed to a love of theatre—and some parents—we've shared a lot over years. She's recently relocated from Atlanta back to our hometown of Winston-Salem with her husband Jim. I'm so grateful to have her on our team for this event--and not just because she's an amazing professional. Jordan is a cheerful, supportive, energetic person with infectious enthusiasm and a really cute dog.

Rob Lemeiux

Attendant of Tranquility

All you need to know about Rob is that when I lived with him he brought a haunted doll into our apartment and proceeded to secretly move it around so it would look like it was following me. We all have that friend who we go to when our other friends are [being crazy] and for me that friend is Rob. I don't know how I could have gotten through the end of college and my early 20's without him. Rob has this amazing ability to remind me to relax and take it easy, to take a break from working, to breathe and slow down. I don't think I've ever been in his house for 30 minutes without being sat down in front of the TV to watch some wild show he's discovered, and I think I would have worked myself to death without his support. Please direct all questions regarding soda selection, video game curation, and anime recommendation to Rob. Please also be aware he may be behind any corner waiting to jump out at you.
