Anthony (Hong An) and Jimin met in Miami at a Cuban restaurant while stuck indoors during a thunderstorm on their respective trips. In conversation, they quickly learned that they were both from the Bay Area and decided to exchange numbers not knowing they'd keep in touch after their off-chance encounter. A couple of weeks later, Anthony asked Jimin on a date where they instantly hit it off over some Omakase.
Jimin and Anthony decided to quietly "celebrate" his birthday after returning from a week-long family vacation. Anthony suggested it'd be nice to revisit their first date restaurant, Sam's Edomata, to have his birthday meal. Jimin felt deja vu while eating because they sat at the same spot, with the same Omakase and server. Little did she know this was all part of Anthony's masterplan on how he wanted to propose. When the dessert came, he popped the question on one knee and romantically embarrassed Jimin in front of the entire restaurant. Right after the proposal, he surprised her again with an engagement party at a nearby wine bar with their closest family and friends. He rented out the entire venue and planned an unforgettable event filled with love and great food and company.
Having to postpone their wedding close to a year, Anthony and Jimin didn't want 2020 to ruin all of their plans. They eventually started searching for a house to find the upsides to their newfound time; and, after several months were ecstatic to close on a property in Anthony's hometown (Santa Clara). Although this big life decision was something they hoped to do after the wedding... they wanted to make some good lemonade when life threw them lemons. They can't wait to say bye to 2020 and finally say I do in 2021!
