Even before our story truly began, in Danny's perspective, he saw me before I even knew he was out there. On the Saturday night of the Apostolic Assembly National Convention in Long Beach, I was walking through the crowded convention lobby when we brushed shoulders. Danny noticed me, while I kept walking, unaware that I had just crossed paths with my future soulmate. He saw me, felt that moment, and even tapped his friend, saying, “Did you see that girl? She’s beautiful.” Three months later, the story of Hawaii began. Our story officially started on a family vacation in Hawaii. I was captivated by the islands’ beauty, sharing photos of my adventures—swimming with dolphins, cage diving with sharks, and exploring Oahu’s stunning landscapes. Meanwhile, back home, Danny was scrolling through Instagram with a friend. In a playful moment, his friend dared him to message a girl he liked. That girl happened to be me, and Danny, seizing the moment, sent me a direct message. What began as a lighthearted conversation quickly blossomed into something more meaningful. In the weeks that followed, we spent countless hours getting to know each other through our messages. Though I told him I was only looking for friendship, and he agreed, it was clear that there was something deeper growing between us. We bonded over rare coincidences—like how we both owned chow chows that had passed away and the amusing realization that neither of us had middle names. This led to Danny affectionately nicknaming me Monica "No Middle Name" Duarte. I found myself falling in love with his voice as he shared his music, playing songs on his guitar, and eventually composing a song about us.
