The first time both of us laid eyes on each other was in 2019 when Gator went to visit a friend in Bothell, WA, and Jimena was the roommate. They met, went to a dog park, and ate tacos together from a food truck and yet there were maybe only a few words exchanged. We didn't know then that we had met the love of our lives. The second time we met was in 2020 when we were helping that same friend move out of that shared house. Jimena was in her old, stained Mickey shirt with bed head, and Gator was in his cargo shorts and Gandalf-length beard. The friend had asked the Newell brothers if one of them could drive Jimena the 2-hour car ride from her new house, and Gator volunteered. I looked at him - and to be honest, could not recognize him with his beard, but I knew he was a good friend and good person, so I was comfortable being with him. We talked the whole car ride, and we laughed a lot too (our good looks that day wasn't the only thing we had going for us). And that was enough for Gator to ask me for my phone number, which was the start of our forever. Gator's proposal had been in the works for awhile. It wasn't until we were in Peru for the first time that he knew this is it. In the beaches of Lima, in front of my parents, brothers, aunties, cousins and grandmas, Gator got in one knee, and I said yes. Since 2020, we have shared numerous milestones. From becoming roommates, getting new jobs, to deciding we wanted to stay together forever, moving to Yakima, and buying our first house. We have not only been partners through it all but we have been best friends. And now we are excited to welcome you all to our next chapter.
