General Info about Mendoza

Mendoza is Alejo's hometown and our new home! We are so happy to host you in the Gran Mendoza, which includes Mendoza's City Center and the countryside. English speakers, don't worry! In touristic areas around the city, main attractions, and services you'll find English speakers with ease, especially with younger locals. As you move to the countryside, this may be a bit more difficult, but not impossible. Be attentive as you move around the city. Mendoza is a safe place, but as with any other city, you should pay attention to your surroundings and try to walk in groups during night time.

Flight

Airport: El Plumerillo (MDZ)

This is Mendoza's airport and the closest to our wedding. The official name is Governor Francisco Gabrielli International Airport, better known as El Plumerillo International Airport. Depending on where you are flying from, it could be more affordable to fly to Santiago de Chile (SCL) or Buenos Aires (EZE) and take a low-cost flight to MDZ.

House Or Rental

Lodging

Mendoza is a tourist spot with many attractions to explore! Recommended areas to book your accommodation: Mendoza City Center is perfect for exploring local history, traditional cuisine, and sightseeing. Closer to the countryside in Chacras de Coria, Vistalba, and Luján de Cuyo, you'll find a town-like atmosphere surrounded by nature and wineries. Hotel and house rental options are widely available. For best price-value deals for groups, look for apartment rentals and houses closer to the countryside (which can accommodate several guests!)

Travel Note

Moving Around Mendoza

All activities planned for the wedding take place in a 30-minute driving radius between Mendoza's City Center and the wedding venue. You can easily navigate around Mendoza using Google Maps. Rideshare apps such as Uber and Cabify are widely used during the day (7 am to 1am), outside these hours (and sometimes during siesta!) service may be slower. Public transportation is safe to travel between the city center and the countryside during the day. You can plan your commute using the Mendotran app. You will need a Sube card to pay for the bus. You can buy and charge those in kioscos all around Mendoza. Local tip: We don't recommend renting a car, unless you are traveling as a big group or you are hoping to travel beyond the Gran Mendoza during your stay.

Travel Note

Money

Argentina's official currency is the Argentinian peso and nowadays most of the economy has turned cashless with the majority of services accepting foreign credit cards and wireless payments via the MercadoPago app. Few places may only accept cash payments in pesos or USD. We recommend you exchange a little (safety) amount of pesos for emergencies or if you plan to travel beyond the Gran Mendoza region. Make sure that you exchange foreign currency in banks, people will offer more advantageous rates on the street but these are not 100% safe.
