Good ol’ DePauw brought Kim and Jimmy together in 2009, during their first few days on campus. However, it wasn’t until 2011 when they became close friends, typically joined by their mutual sorority and fraternity comrades, who were ever so hopeful that one day, they would move past the friend zone. They had so much fun attending each other’s Delt and Alpha Phi events, at Marvin's, The Duck, and on Daytona Beach on Spring Break. But, at this point, the friend zone remained, and they parted ways in 2013 after graduation. Fast forward to September 2017, when the Hooleys tied the knot, and reunited their pals in Indy, Kim and Jimmy met their new "grown up" selves. Just as their friends had always hoped, their spark was, at last, undeniable. In fact, tides had turned so much that Kim switched her name tag with Kat Crook's, so that she would be next to Jimmy at the reception. By the end of the night, Kim caught the bouquet, and Jimmy's fate was sealed! By January 2018, Kim and Jimmy officially started dating. With Kim in Chicago and Jimmy in Indy, they spent many nights on the phone, and weekends on the road, and quickly realized that life is just better together. By August 2019, Jimmy moved to the big city, and they created a home together in 700 sq feet. As March 2020 hit, and they suddenly became “WFH colleagues,” somehow, their relationship strengthened more than they could have ever imagined. By October, they knew they wanted to be together forever. Jimmy set up an incredible day with jewelers, and it wasn't long before they found Kim's dream ring. He kept her in suspense, though, as he secretly planned a beautiful proposal in January on North Ave Beach. Much to her surprise, Jimmy had invited some close friends and family to surprise Kim as soon as she said yes! Since then, they have enjoyed life together as an engaged couple. They are so grateful for the winding path that brought them here, and are so excited for their adventures to come as husband and wife!
