FAQs

Question

Is there anything to do in Kodiak?

Answer

There is so much to do in Kodiak! Some of our favorite things to do include hiking, backpacking, and kayaking, but it is a hotspot for hunting, fishing, and has many museums, restaurants, tours, float planes, and more! If you don't believe us, here are some helpful links! http://mobile.kodiak.org/ https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g31037-Kodiak_Island_Alaska-Vacations.html

Question

Is there any way to make the flight less expensive?

Answer

You will have to decide for yourself if it is right for you, but you can get an Alaska airlines credit card. If you qualify you will receive 30,000 free miles and a companion airfare ticket. This could nearly pay for your flight! Please consider this carefully and make an informed decision. Here is some more info! https://www.alaskaair.com/content/credit-card/visa-signature

Question

How soon should I RSVP?

Answer

Please RSVP as soon as possible! The sooner you RSVP the more likely we can help you find a cheaper place to stay (see flights and accommodations page) and plan meals! Summer is the busy season in Kodiak. Flights and rental rates are only going to go up. This will be a simple wedding so we can accommodate anyone last minute, but the sooner you plan your trip the less expensive it will be.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

For many of you it will be a significant financial undertaking to come to Kodiak. Others of you will be helping by contributing food. For these reasons, please feel free to bring yourselves as a wedding gift! Also, there isn't much storage space in a bus! Since we fully expect many of you to disregard this request... see our registry tab!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Yes! You can bring your brother and your mother and your other friend's cousin Trevor!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes! Bring them all. Any age. Borrow some! We think that weddings are in part a celebration of family and community and kids are part of that. (But we won't have childcare. Bring them to the ceremony!)

Question

Do you have any housing recommendations?

Answer

We are renting a few houses for family and friends in financial need on a first come first serve basis. We may also have friends in the area who can accommodate you. Please contact us for info about these options. Otherwise book sooner rather than later! It is the busy season in Kodiak and rentals are filling up! There are two hotels on the island- the Best Western Kodiak Inn and the Comfort Inn. Also, try www.airbnb.com or www.homeaway.com.

Question

Can I help house wedding guests?

Answer

Yes! Please help us make this affordable for our out of town guests. We really appreciate it! Let us know how many and how long you are willing to accommodate.

Question

How formal will the ceremony be?

Answer

Everything will be very casual. Kodiak as a whole is rarely formal. Think lumberjack school graduation attire.
