How We Met

A tale as old as time...

Boy meets girl (online), girl disappears. Two years later, boy meets girl again, and the conversation picks up right where it left off - as if no time had passed. Boy and girl nervously agree to a first date. Girl hoping that this could be her last first date, and boy thinking, "hey we'll see how this goes..". The rest, as they say, is history.

The Proposal

12.6.2020

It was a quiet Sunday morning that started like many others, but had the added bonus of a twinkling Christmas tree. Rebecca usually gets up first, well let's be honest, the dogs get up first, and then Jim not long after. This morning after the dogs were fed and the coffee made, Rebecca settled in on the couch and began to make out the weekly menu and subsequent grocery list (riveting we know). Jim came down and grabbed a cup of coffee and joined her. Morning greetings ensued but if you know Rebecca, she was focused on her task at hand and wasn't up for distractions. Jim patiently waited and when he got up to grab a second cup of coffee he casually mentioned that Rebecca should check her stocking because St. Nick did come the night before and maybe he left something for her. Rebecca did so because the allure of some holiday chocolate or other amazing treat was too much to ignore and nothing screams Sunday breakfast like candy. The stockings were hung on the mantle, by the twinkling tree which meant that Rebecca's back was turned to the rest of the room. So while Rebecca was checking her stocking she didn't notice that while Jim was refilling his coffee, he slipped into the mudroom to grab something. Rebecca dug in looking for that coveted chocolate, which wasn't there, but she felt something else. It was an ornament and when she looked at it, saw that it said "Got engaged and stayed home in 2020". Quite confused she turned around and saw Jim walk towards her, get down on one knee and say, "Rebecca...." and that is all she heard because by now the dogs were barking and running around because mom and dad were acting strange. However, she quickly put all the pieces together and happily said yes.
