The Pearl is an awesome area with shops, restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. On Sunday mornings, it has a lovely farmers market to check out! We love this area and it is about 5 minutes from downtown. A few of our favorite places are: Breakfast: Local Coffee Founders & Bakery Lorraine Bars: Hotel Emma Bar, High Street Wine Co. Restaurants: Best Quality Daughter, Mezquite, Southerleigh
A river through downtown with restaurants and bars all over. You can walk the river or jump in a boat to cruise down!
Remember it!!!
If The Alamo was a bit underwhelming for you, we suggest checking out some of the other missions — San Antonio de Valero, Concepción, San José, San Juan, and Espada— which are now part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The history of the San Antonio missions are rooted in the Spanish colonial effort to expand the Spanish empire and defend its northern frontier, beginning with the establishment of the first mission, San Antonio de Valero (the Alamo), in 1718. Over the following decades, these four missions were established along the San Antonio River, forming a network of communities that introduced new religion, agriculture, and crafts to the area. If you like architecture, history, or just want to get outside then we definitely recommend you check them out! They do have guided tours, or you can drive up and walk around. Our favorite mission is Mission San José Y San Miguel De Aguayo and the address is: 6701 San Jose Dr. San Antonio, TX 78214.
