They remember this because it was on the Saturday of the annual diocesan Catholic youth convention, during the long break that the teens were given between keynote speakers. While competing in a scavenger hunt with her youth group, Jillian ended up on Sean's floor at the hotel where the convention was held. After seeing him in the hallway, she invited him to join them. They had a great time together that day, and at the end of the retreat she put his number into her phone as "Sean Chapman (convention)," not sure if they would speak again after that weekend. To their delight, a year later they found themselves together, and they haven't looked back in 6 years.
Sean drove Jillian to Lake Houston Wilderness Park for a fun day of hiking on a summer morning. While walking down one of the trails, Sean led Jillian next to a creek, where he had set up beach blankets, rose petals, and his guitar, complete with sparklers (since Jillian loves fireworks). He sang her a song he wrote for her, the last line "Jillian, will you marry me?" She said yes!
