2009

From the beginning...

We met on a Halloween night in 2009 after we'd been talking for months on Myspace (EEK). The date started at Matt's third floor apartment where we played mortal combat, followed by a Halloween party where I met his best friend, Alex. Even though we were the only ones not in a costume, we still kicked ass in beer pong. He also had to buy me booze because I was only 20 years old (Ha!) and that night was about 15 years ago.... We started talking in August, met on October 31, and started dating November 12, 2009. I moved in about a month later, and never left (Haha!) It was Matt, Me, and Ernie on the 3rd floor for a couple years, and then we got our first basement apartment together in Shrewsbury. We were partying every weekend, had a revolving door of friends and family around, and were enjoying being young...and then in March of 2011, we found out I was pregnant with Lillian! I’ll never forget going to my brother’s old daycare job and letting him know the news. Troy’s words were, “Congratulations, I hope he’s a good guy!” (haha) Shortly after Lillian was born, we left our apartment to save up some money for a new place. Matt stayed with his mom, and Lillian and I stayed with Matt’s dad and Carri and Matt's sisters. We moved into our new town house in Wistah after some months, and then Evan was born in 2014! When I got off maternity leave with Evan I went back to work, Matt was working at Coca Cola, and the children were with Matt’s mom in her home daycare. Evan was only 3 1/2 months and old and Lillian was 3 1/2 years old when Lillian was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2015. Matt stayed working to support us, I quit my job to take Lillian to the hospital, my grandparents and other family members took turns watching Evan, and every other weekend Matt and I would take turns watching our children. None one this would have been possible without the amazing staff and medicine at MGH, our mothers who never left our side, or the love and support of those closest to us. It was one of the most challenging times for our little family, and it really challenged us as a couple, too. We broke up all the time when were younger and even broke up during Lillian’s treatment, but we always found our way back to one other. Our love wasn't traditional, but it was intensely fierce, loyal, and unconditional. Matt "finally" proposed in 2018 on our family vacation at Old Orchard beach at the very top of the Ferris wheel. He made no sense when he asked me to marry him, I even had to ask if he was asking because he was so nervous, but I said YES, of course! Our journey has been completely unorthodox, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Counting down the days till were officially Mr & Mrs and looking forward to celebrating with you all!
