We met at our mutual friend Jenn's house in 2013 where Jon claims he had a thing for Jill right away that night. For a few years, we continued to run into each other through mutual friends and would share an occasional snap chat. Christmas break in 2015, Jon ended up at Jill's sister Nicole's house to pick up his best friend Troy's Mom from her work party and ended up facetiming Jill when he discovered the coincidence. He even asked her on a date to which she obligingly said no to, blaming "his mustache.” We continued to occasionally text and attempt to meet up when Jon would visit Troy who went to college just 15 minutes away from Jill in St. Louis. About a year later, Jill desperately asked Troy if he and his college friends would come to her sorority formal with just two days notice. Of course Jill texted Jon to invite him too and Jon said yes without hesitation. We danced and drank that night away, inseparable from each other all night long and met up at a bar the next night too. Jon once again asked Jill on a date and this time she said YES! We made long distance work while Jill finished grad school at SLU and other fieldwork locations and while Jon graduated from ISU and began the Chicago Police Academy. In 2019, we bought a house in Mount Greenwood and moved in together with our dog, Seamus, who Jon had rescued in college. In early 2020, Jon's begging finally came to fruition when Covid hit and Jill agreed they should adopt their next dog, Winston. That summer, Jon and Jill went on their usual bike ride to Lake Katherine, where Jill's twin sister Ali hid in a bush to capture pictures of Jon proposing followed by a picnic including our all-time favorite mac and cheese from Chuck's BBQ.
