Jillian and Joey love to joke that they walked down the aisle on the very first night they met -proof it was meant to be from the start. Their story began as members of the wedding party for their dear friends, Luke and Eliza Jahnke. During the bridal party introductions, Jillian tossed her bouquet behind her, and Joey caught it. He dropped to one knee to present it back to her in a playful tribute to love stories everywhere (see the picture below). Foreshadowing, perhaps? From that moment on, the connection was instant. Over the next two years, they traveled near and far, cooked together, binge-watched their favorite shows, attended concerts, cheered on their favorite teams (and even taught Jillian some football), met each other’s families, moved in together, and started a life as a family of three with their beloved golden doodle, Maverick. Joey made it official with an intimate proposal at one of their favorite places, Indiana University. The bells literally started ringing as Joey slipped the ring on Jillian’s finger. They like to think of that as a sign of approval from their loved ones in heaven.
