Flight
O'Hare is the main airport for Chicago, about 20 miles northwest of the city. It can take you as little as 30 minutes to get downtown, but during peak rush hour it can take over an hour via cab. The Blue Line CTA is another option if you're feeling adventurous and want to take the famous "El" train downtown. It's just under an hour ride into the Loop.
Flight
Most locals prefer Midway, the smaller and closer airport that sits just about 10 miles southwest of downtown. Southwest Airlines only flies in and out of Midway. It can be as little as 15 minutes from the airport to the Loop on a good day, but during peak traffic and construction times it can take up to an hour. You can take a half hour ride on the Orange Line CTA from Midway directly into the Loop.

Virgin Hotels Chicago is a modern, up-tempo hotel that is centrally located equidistant from many of Chicago's amazing and unique attractions. The Art Institute is a quick cab ride to the south (about a half mile), and to the north is vibrant River North and the Magnificent Mile. It's located in Downtown Chicago, a walkable two blocks from the Art Institute and just a few blocks more from Millennium Park and the famous "Bean" sculpture.
