We first met during trip leader training at Summer's Best Two Weeks in Boswell, Pennsylvania. I had grown up going there as a camper, and he had never been. But it was both of our first times being counselors there. Through tying knots in rock climb training, being partners on the high ropes course, and playing some competitive ping pong in our down time, we knew our friendship could be something more. After wrestling with the reality that we would have to do long distance by the end of the summer, we decided it would be worth the effort and made it official on 07.21.18!
After a short 11 months, Trent and I felt ready to take the next step. While he was visiting me in Washington, we went on a hike to Heather Lake with my sisters and brother-in-law. The lake was incredibly beautiful, and after continuing around the lake, I stopped in surprise seeing roses laid out on the path ahead. I turned to Trent, and he smiled and took my hand. He walked with me to the edge of the water, got down on one knee, and asked me to be his wife! The moment I said yes, his parents came into view on the path to congratulate us. Trent had asked them to come to town to help surprise me with the roses and meet the rest of my family! After some pictures with the lovely scenery and some cookies following the hike, we had a celebratory dinner with my family and his parents! We can't wait to continue celebrating this exciting new step in our lives with you at our wedding!
