A more laid back beach, this is great for those that like to have lots of options when they walk off the beach! There is always live music on the weekends and something for everyone. DO NOT pay to park, parking is free along the streets, just drive a little left or right away from pier. St. James Gate has one of Lexton's favorite irish coffee and Jill enjoys oyster shooters at Snapper Jacks!
Where it all began... Lexton and Jill met at Red's where you can find bargain seafood. We also recommend Saltwater Cowboys for a trashcan Nacho or Tavern and table for a great meal that can be "family style" if need be.
A must see area for first time visitors of Charleston. Right at the end of the Battery and near waterfront park and the Pineapple fountain, I encourage you to take some time to walk around historic downtown Charleston.
In 1788, Charles Cotesworth Pinckney ceded the land to the City of Charleston for the express use as a public market, and he stipulated that the land must remain in use as a market for perpetuity. Definitely pop into "Callie's Hot Little Biscuit" for a flavorful experience.
*Vendue (sunset) -Tallest rooftop bar, go all the way up for the best view. **Henry’s -Has very interesting character, good for drinks or lunch near the market *Stars - Jill likes the Lavender Lemonade *Carmella's Dessert Bar - get the smores cheesecake!
Lost Dog Cafe (Folly) Page's Okra Grill (near Shem)-got to Sullivan’s or walk bridge after Grace and Grit (near Shem) - go to Sullivan’s after or walk bridge after Millers All Day (downtown)
A great family friendly beach with some popular food options: The Co Op, Hometeam, Mex 1, and Poe's Tavern. At Hometeam, Lexton likes to eat "the best smoked wings on the planet."
A local brewery that has a great rooftop with great beers and Jill's favorite sushi truck! Within walking distance of two of Lexton's favorites- Hometeam and Lewis!
Jill goes to Local's frequently to enjoy their weekly specials! Her favorite roll is the Spicy Tataki roll, but she would also recommend any of the award winners. Local's also has several non sushi options, definitely check out their menu!
Recently won best new restaurant in America and for good reason! An excellent meal and experience and would make a great date night while in town. *Reservations required.
Angel Oak- I recommend hitting some breweries on John’s island (Estuary is very good AND has a crepe food truck!) Walk downtown- Pineapple fountain, pop into the tavern (Oldest Liquor store in America) Rainbow row Walk the Battery Walk Hampton Park- based off of central park Demetre Park for Sunrise- such an awesome view of all of charleston! Can go at another time, great shark teeth. Walk Ravenel Bridge-(Park at the gas station on the base of the Mount Pleasant side) (I recommend this for a sunset walk as well, then dinner at Red’s on shem creek) Pitt Street Bridge- Sunset! It is the Old bridge that connected MTP & Sullivans, it is now a preserve and walk way.
