Two of our mutual friends set us up on our first date in December 2014 and we blindly met up at Shannon Rose in Clifton. It took Carmelo about an hour before he asked Jill if she would go on a second date with him to a New Year’s Eve party with all of his friends. And the rest is history.

After being stuck home during a long pandemic and renovating an entire house, we decided it was time to take a trip. I finally convinced Carmelo to come with me (and my brother) to Disney World. As the week went on, it never crossed my mind that he would propose (I had been waiting 7 years already and what was another few years??). One night at dinner in Hollywood Studios, I noticed that Carmelo inconspicuously took my empty wine glass and put something in it. After a few moments, I noticed a diamond ring in the glass. I glanced up at him in complete shock (as did my brother) and said, "of course I will marry you!" I had no idea he was planning to propose and was even more stunned (and horrified) to find out that he was carrying the ring in his pocket all week, waiting for just the right moment. Disney World is in fact, the Happiest Place on Earth!
