Jillian and Peter met in February 2016 at a physical therapy clinic in NJ where Peter was working as a student Physical Therapist and Jillian was a patient being treated for a knee injury. Peter was assigned to Jillian's case and the rest is pretty much history. They discovered that they shared a mutual passion for physical therapy, as Peter was about to graduate with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton and Jillian had just been accepted into her Doctorate program at Stony Brook University. They quickly bonded over their love for good food, music, and how close they both were with their families. On Peter's last day of work he asked her for her number and their very first sushi date was soon to follow.

Peter and Jillian were already in Ireland for a wedding and decided to extend their stay and travel to another area of the country they had not been to before. They spent three nights at The Powerscourt Hotel in Co. Wicklow where they had breathtaking views of Sugar Loaf Mountain and access to private gardens and nature walks on the estate property. On Thursday evening, after a long day of hiking and exploring, Peter asked Jillian to go on a bike ride along the river. That bike ride ended in so many tears, but the very best kind! Peter had asked Jillian to marry him right next to the water on the most beautiful day in Ireland they had during their stay.
