Melanie and Jide met while waiting to meet up with friends in front of a movie theater. It was a central location for everyone to meet up because we had to wait for a chartered bus to take us to a pool party. As we all know, buses never arrive on time, so Melanie who was glowing from the summer sun decided to paint her toenails in the lobby of the hotel before the bus arrived (LOL). Jide, staring in disbelief, “why is she painting her toenails out in public and fanning it with her hands” and decided to walk up to her and took out a book from his book bag and started fanning her toes, “Hi, My name is Jide” and the rest is history.
We got engaged on our six years anniversary in Bali, Indonesia. Jide made all the necessary planning with flowers, an outdoor romantic dinner on a deck overlooking the ocean. The weather on the other hand had it's own separate agenda. Unfortunately, it started raining an hour before the dinner so the planner assisting Jide called and asked if he wanted to cancel because of the rain. Jide had faith that everything would turn out ok, so he said no to cancelling. Thankfully, the rain stopped 5 minutes before the set dinner time and we were in back in business. Meanwhile, Melanie was busy getting ready without a care in the world. She was completely unaware of the dinner proposal plans, the rain, and everything else! All she knew was that Jide was taking her out somewhere for their anniversary. She was completely shocked and amazed at the beautiful and VERY delicious dinner Jide had planned. After dinner, they began dancing and then Jide went down to "tie his shoe lace", but instead of getting back up, he stayed down on one knee to ask Melanie if she would marry him. While teary eyed, Melanie said "Of course!!"
