A song JB created for Joanne after "The Morning Bus Ride"
The clock was ticking down to JB's Senior Prom. Joanne and her mother were busy at the Gallardo house, setting up for Jemima's makeup when she first saw him. JB and his classmates were there, waiting for Jeremiah, his childhood friend. In that whirlwind of pre-prom excitement, he struck her as a perfectly put-together, funny, and yet wonderfully shy young man. Joanne was instantly smitten. It was a proper, secret, crush-at-first-sight moment.
For Joanne, JB was once just a face she saw—a teenage crush tucked away in memories. When he joined the youth ministry, they became acquaintances, but Joanne held back. She was a young lady with a plan, prioritizing her internship over her heart. She kept her feelings under lock and key.
Everything changed one morning on a bus. Joanne saw JB and simply said "Hi." In that moment, JB felt his heart skip a beat it felt like a scene from a movie playing in slow motion. He couldn't stop thinking about her. Later that day in class, he kept asking their friend Jeremiah when Joanne’s birthday was. Jeremiah teased him about having a crush, but JB didn't mind. From that day on, he started pursuing her.
As time passed, Joanne got busy with her career and forgot about her old feelings for JB. She eventually rejected him, and a hurt JB promised to stop bothering her. They grew distant, but fate had other plans. During a church fundraiser, the song "Gentleman" started playing, and JB began to dance jokingly. Seeing him have so much fun made Joanne feel butterflies in her stomach all over again. She told him he was a good dancer, and just like that, they started talking again.
Their casual chats turned into frequent texts, which led to secret dates at the mall. They tried to keep their relationship private, but Joanne’s mother, Rosalie—who was a church elder and music leader—eventually found out. They sat down with another elder and Pastor Dario and honestly confessed their love for each other. Instead of being upset, the Pastor prayed for them and blessed their relationship.
Their journey wasn't always easy. They started out very young and made many mistakes as they learned how to love each other. But through God’s grace, they grew up together. JB worked hard to become the stable, mature man he is today. Finally, he was ready to propose, leading them to this beautiful moment. Today, they aren't just boyfriend and girlfriend anymore—they are finally becoming husband and wife.
