Head up to the 51st floor of Hotel Estelar for breathtaking, panoramic views of Cartagena. A small cover fee is paid in the lobby before taking the elevator up. Once there, you’ll find reasonably priced drinks and a spectacular skyline view of the entire city perfect for a night out!
One of our favorite experiences in Cartagena was a “Pasadía” (day trip) to the beautiful Islas del Rosario, just a 45-minute speedboat ride from the Cartagena Pier (departing around 8:00 a.m.). Guests can choose between a standard package or a VIP option, which includes a reclining bed and a premium spot on the island. Both options come with an open bar (beer and a selection of cocktails) and a delicious lunch chosen from a menu upon arrival. The return trip is typically around 3:00 p.m., depending on sea conditions. We absolutely loved this experience with our family, but there are also other great options whether on the same island in a different area or on nearby islands with similar packages. Everything (transportation, drinks, and lunch) is included in one fee, making it a fun and carefree way to enjoy Cartagena’s crystal-clear waters!
No trip to Cartagena is complete without a stroll through Getsemaní, the city’s vibrant and artistic district. Once a hidden gem, it’s now known for its colorful street art, lively plazas, and authentic Colombian charm. We recommend visiting Plaza de la Trinidad, where you can enjoy local food, music, and dancing in the evenings. During the day, wander the streets filled with murals, boutique cafés, and artisan shops perfect for photos and soaking up Cartagena’s culture. ✨ A must-do if you want to experience the city’s energy beyond the Old City walls!
If you’re looking for an unforgettable night out, we highly recommend Andrés Carne de Res a legendary Colombian restaurant and party all in one. Famous for its lively atmosphere, colorful décor, amazing Colombian dishes, and non-stop music, this spot is more than just dinner it’s an experience! You’ll find everything from delicious grilled meats and cocktails to dancing, live performances, and that signature Colombian fiesta vibe. Perfect for a fun night with friends or family while in Cartagena!
Step back in time with a visit to Cartagena’s most iconic fortress, the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas. Built in the 1600s, this historic site was designed to protect the city from pirates and invaders. Explore its tunnels, stone walls, and lookout points, while enjoying some of the best panoramic views of Cartagena. We recommend going early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat and don’t forget your camera!
