Like many love stories today, ours started with a swipe on the dating app called Hinge. As their slogan says, “The app that’s designed to be deleted.” As soon as Christy was about to give up all hope on the app, she matched with Jay. His video on singing a country song made her swipe. What began as a few simple messages quickly turned into long conversations that felt surprisingly natural. Talking to each other was easy from the start, like we had known each other much longer than we actually had. Our first real encounter happened at the gym. Between workouts and quick glances across the room, it felt a little surreal that the person from the app was suddenly standing right there in real life. But the moment we started talking, any nerves disappeared. The conversation flowed just as easily as it had online. Not long after that, we planned our first official date at home. Christy made shrimp tacos with a mango salsa, and somewhere between cooking, laughing, and sharing stories, we both realized something special was happening. The night flew by because we simply couldn’t stop talking. From there, things moved pretty quickly. We spent more and more time together until eventually it just made sense to live under the same roof. Moving in together felt natural, like the next step in something that had already become a big part of both our lives. Three years later, after building a home and so many memories together, Jay popped the question in Ojai, then we were engaged! And started the next chapter of our story. Soon after, we got a furry companion, Goose & soon came our biggest blessing yet — baby boy, Jett. What started as a simple swipe turned into a life together, a growing family, and a love story that continues to unfold every day. As the app promised—we deleted it.
