Father of the Groom
A master at putting you to sleep (for surgeries), Dr Ivan has a big heart. A man of integrity, thoughtfulness, and when you least expect it, dad jokes. A sprinter in school, he still surprises by his speed on the tennis court when his speed helps him retrieve balls that are simply out of reach for most other people!
Father of the Bride
A jovial and mischievous man, often mistakenly thought to be scary because of his moustache and furrowed brows. Rachel does not peel or buy her own fruits because he makes sure the fruits are always washed, cut, peeled and arranged in containers for her. His famous magic trick is to make the food that Rachel wants appear the very next day!
Mother of the Groom
Jie-Han gets his talent from both his parents, but having learned his mom won multiple music competitions and ALSO represented the state for tennis, he's still a little mind-blown by that. Growing up, he had no idea his mom was so 'geng'.
Mother of the Bride
The "taitai" and generous mother. What her kids want, her kids will always get. The queen of random recipes, her cooking is almost always a creative adventure. Some say that is where Rachel got her creative cooking abilities. One of her most memorable meals would be the purple dragonfruit lychee meatball, Rachel swears it was good!
Brother of the Groom
A performer through and through, from his numerous stage performances to his Transformers YouTube channel. He has a collection of over 1000 Transformers figures, and counting. Jie-Han takes solace in the fact that he's still the taller brother... for now.
Brother of the Bride
He is the peacemaker in the family. While Rachel is fire, he is water. Always flowing and mellow. But don't you dare mistreat his family members, or he will explode into flames and pummel you into mush. Peaceful by nature but a fierce protector when necessary. Also, a chronic over-orderer!
Groomsman
Yao Hong/Alan is always wearing a warm smile and eager to contribute to and help others. From singer to bassist, LIASMT! and jamming brought him and Jie-Han together. You've really got to hear him sing.
Bridesmaid
The tallest of the Swearing Raviolis, who looks the fiercest. But actually she has the softest heart and is the most bullied by Rachel and Kia Hooi. The friend who loses sleep when Rachel is stressed, the one who responds immediately when Rachel needs emotional support. The "pillar", figuratively and literally speaking!
Groomsman
Yao Zhong seems to have been born with movement and rhythm in his soul. You’ll see it in music, dancing, badminton, and now pickleball too. Such a natural dancer, you can't help but groove along when he starts moving!
Bridesmaid
A chance meeting during badminton allowed the two most talkative and cheerful people on earth to become friends. Her outspokenness and complete honesty are a breath of fresh air. She may be the youngest in the group but she's the most loving and responsible friend there is. But please make sure you have truckloads of garlic when you invite her over for dinner.
Groomsman
His quiet demeanour stands in stark contrast with the way his fingers fly over the piano keys. Currently residing in Japan, we're so thrilled he could be here to be part of our big day.
Bridesmaid
The shortest of the Swearing Raviolis, and possibly the most violent. She looks zen to others, but she's stabbed you in her mind 10 times when you piss her off. Rachel's mad that she's too damn nice and gets bullied, but secretly admires her incredible tolerance and patience for people. Her superpower is that she can make even the worst human seem like an okay person.
Groomsman
Jie-Han's oldest buddy he met on the first day of orientation at MUFY. Brothers in geek, their wives are convinced they’d end up marrying each other if they didn’t find their better halves. Don't get them started 'cause they may never end.
Bridesmaid
The queen of aesthetics, she's the go-to for fashion and makeup advice. She doesn't let anybody in easily but when she does, you're the luckiest person to have found the most loyal and kindhearted friend ever. The bridesmaid that is more "ganchiong" than the bride, and some would say this wedding finally happened because of her. She's forcing Rachel to attend zoom meetings to plan this wedding. Everybody needs this girl!
Groomsman
A man of many talents, a chance meeting at a talent competition (Zach won) and jam sessions brought him and Jie-Han together. Eminem and Michael Jackson are a staple in our jamming list now because of him.
Bridesmaid
Possibly the cutest friend in the group. Soft-spoken and gentle, but so passionate and honest. Every time there's something good that happens, she is the first to celebrate you. She's the first to support you. She will always give her best for her loved ones. To make her happy, just give her good food and don't do stupid things. Please.
Groomsman
On Sundays you’ll find Brian serving as the pianist and choir leader at St Anne’s in Klang. Love of oldies and classics brought him and Jie-Han together to make even more music. 60's? 70's? 80's? 90's? Yes.
Bridesmaid
Queen of many talents: singing, dancing, teaching, human trumpet, fitness, emceeing! What can't she do?? Her adventurous and bold spirit stands out to everybody she meets. Always saying yes to new adventures, learning new skills, exploring different paths. She's such a joy to be with because she embodies the beauty of life!
Groomsman
You can count on Jack to have your back in life, food, and climbing. Please do us a favour to make him happy and get this man some crabs. His name is still used today by Rachel and Jie-Han as a codeword that a pretty girl is within sight.
Bridesmaid
The firecracker. The disco ball. The lion dance. She brings the fun and the noise, she lights up every room she walks in. Woman of many "pantangs", but her biggest "pantang" is do not mess with her friends. Always making people laugh with her amazing sense of humor, she's also the most thoughtful and sincere person to talk to.
Groomsman
The Greatest Showman Dr. Sheng is always a warm presence in a room. Fun fact: he emceed his own wedding and it was the most memorable and meaningful wedding Jie-Han has attended. We’re shamelessly borrowing a lot of those ideas. The spotlight loves him and we do too.
Bridesmaid
Unexpectedly grouped together during Monash University orientation, who would have thought it would bloom into this amazing friendship? Badminton, climbing, and now pickleball! Our raw, unfiltered selves appear in sports especially during the frustrating moments, and that is how Rachel is convinced Michelle is the most encouraging, kindest and sweetest person in the world. Unless you get her trapped on the wrong floor without the elevator key card. Oof.
Flower Child
Rachel's mini twin. Being around both of them is like being around two very hyper chihuahuas. Both equally cheeky and cheerful, always laughing, being dramatic and charming their way out of being scolded when they're being naughty. They're each other's biggest supporters and you can be sure they're always up to no good! "Chuu Maa"'s biggest fan.
Flower Child
The sassiest and tiniest rage monster. She's a mix of Tweety Bird, Boo from Monster Inc. and Crayon Shin Chan. Such a fearless and adventurous toddler, she tends to get in trouble often. She's the best entertainment for her favourite auntie (and her cuddly cheeks are obsession-worthy!). But don't get her mad or she'll scream the house down! Uncle Jie-Han's biggest fan.
