We're getting married!

"Yes, we literally met at jail." Back in May of 2024, Jewel had just started a new role with the same employer Emerson had already been working for. Around that time, their mutual friends were determined to set them up. They showed each of them pictures of the other, and before long, Emerson followed Jewel on social media, and Jewel reciprocated. For a small time, that’s where things stayed—an awareness of each other, with a quiet curiosity, but no conversation. In retrospect, it’s obvious the opportunity was there, it just wasn’t the right timing yet. Fast forward to June, one month after the social media follows, Jewel was on a ride-along with a different officer that led to Tulsa County Jail. Thanks to God's perfect timing, Emerson happened to be there, having just finished booking someone before his shift ended. It was completely random, but it closed the gap that had been sitting there for weeks. What had only existed through pictures and mutual friends finally became real, in a place neither of them would have expected. Jewel was a little shy at first, but Emerson didn’t hesitate to walk over, start a conversation, and make the moment count. The introduction quickly turned into something they both felt drawn to right away. From the beginning, there was a sense of familiarity and ease between them that made everything feel natural, like they weren’t starting from nothing but stepping into something that had already been set in motion. Looking back now, it’s easy to recognize God’s hand in the way everything came together. The waiting, the second-hand introductions, and the timing of that day all fit in a way they couldn’t have planned themselves. Funnily enough, Emerson messaged Jewel the night they met and said he knew their meeting wasn’t a coincidence. He was right—what began as flirting in the booking area of jail led to building a life full of love, memories, and growing together through every season. On November 1, 2025, Emerson planned a family trip to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he proposed, marking the next chapter of their story. ♡
