After a month of online messaging about music taste, LEGO video games, and their shared distrust of the Minions, Jessica Rusick and Jett Roeser met at Lago Tacos in Minneapolis to continue the conversation in person. They discussed their love of early 2010s Saturday Night Live and shared stories of growing up going to concerts with their parents. Following an adorably awkward goodbye hug, they made plans for a second date at Can Can Wonderland in St. Paul, where they got to know each other better over mini-golf and karaoke. That date turned into a third, then a fourth, then many more over the course of the next few months. They explored the Minnesota Zoo together, shared their first kiss after 30 Rock trivia, celebrated their first Valentine’s Day at a monster truck rally, and made a pilgrimage to the world-famous Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota. As they continued to spend time together, Jett and Jessica began to realize how lucky they were to have found one another. It turns out they were weird and wonderful in a lot of the same ways, and their differences complemented one another and balanced each other out. As they weathered a pandemic together, they gave each other strength and support. As they began to take longer trips and explore the world together, they pushed each other to experience life in a way they could never have on their own. Simply put, Jett and Jessica made each other the happiest they had ever been. Now, after more than five years of growing, learning, laughing, developing complex inside jokes, arguing about cribbage house rules, and obsessing over their cat Zoey, Jett and Jessica are ready to celebrate their love with the people closest to them.
